Project Highlight: PCB Decontamination and Select Demolition

Client: Commercial facility in Indianapolis

The client retained Blue River to remove PCB-laden dust and other contaminants from its 287,000-sq.-ft facility in Indianapolis. To accomplish this, Blue River used the following tactics:

• Vacuuming and wiping all surfaces throughout the facility
• Pressure washing the facility once the dust was removed and collecting all rinse water for treatment and disposal
• Paint removal
• Demolition of all internal offices
• Removal of all items that could not be cleaned by conventional methods
• Subcontracting the removal of 30,000-sq. ft. of asbestos

Blue River’s method and approach for performing this work saved the client approximately $1-2 million under the original budget for the project.

Project Highlight: Removal and Replacement of Lead Impacted Soil

Client: City of Hammond, Indiana

Blue River was awarded the remediation of 12 residential cleanups that were contaminated with lead impacted soil. The work included clearing and grubbing each of the properties, soil removal and transportation and disposal, backfill placement, and site restoration.

Project Highlight: Alvord Street Remediation
Client: City of Hammond, Indiana

Blue River was selected as the environmental contractor for the remediation of a vacant 2 acre site that was previously used for industrial purposes. The remediation strategy consisted of constructing a crushed stone driveway, security fencing, excavating a total of 7,250 tons of lead-impacted soil, and disposal of additional debris uncovered during excavation.
